In an English city high street

Isn’t it ever so lovely just to drive in an English city high street?
Bus stops and taxi ranks and double yellow lines, in an English city high street.
Roundabouts and traffic lights, t-junctions and lay-bys,
Crossroads, speed bumps and traffic jams.
It’s ever so pleasant simply to drive in an English city high street.

“I’ve got priority, I was here first” in an English city high street.
“If you went any slower, you’d be in reverse” in an English city high street.
“Can’t you see it’s my right of way?”, “Use your mirrors for once today!”
“Road hog!”, “Boy racer!”, “Don’t undertake!!”
“How did you ever pass your test to drive?!” in an English city high street.

“Don’t be so selfish, you don’t own the road” in an English city high street.
“Why don’t you go home and read the highway code?” in an English city high street.
“Are you just too blind to see?”, “Don’t you beep your horn at me!”
“Cowboy!”, “Woman driver!”, “You cut me up!!”
Isn’t it ever so lovely just to drive in an English city high street?
